What are the entry channels for B.Tech admission at MIET for session 2026-2027?

Candidates can secure B.Tech admission at MIET through three authorized channels: (1) WBJEE Centralized Online Counseling conducted by the WBJEEB, (2) JEE (Main) quota counseling, or (3) Direct Admission / Management Quota as per approved statutory norms for eligible 10+2 candidates.

What minimum marks are required in 10+2 (Higher Secondary) for engineering?

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, alongside one subject from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Computer Science. A minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD candidates) in these three subjects combined is mandatory.

Can 3-Year Diploma holders take direct admission into the 2nd year of B.Tech?

Yes. Engineering Diploma holders or B.Sc. degree holders with Mathematics can apply for Lateral Entry into the 2nd Year (3rd Semester) of any B.Tech discipline through JELET counseling or direct merit quota, subject to having minimum 45% marks in their diploma (40% for reserved candidates).

Are in-campus hostel accommodations available for outstation students?

Yes. MIET provides dedicated in-campus residential hostels for boys and a fully secured, round-the-clock guarded hostel for girls. Hostels feature nutritious meal plans, high-speed Wi-Fi, study spaces, medical assistance, and 24/7 security surveillance.

How does MIET assist with government scholarships and educational loans?

Our dedicated Scholarship Desk assists eligible students in applying for the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means (SVMCM) scholarship (up to ₹60,000/year), West Bengal Student Credit Card (WBSCC) loans (up to ₹10 Lakhs at 4% interest), OASIS, and Aikyashree minority schemes.
